Weather
Weather Comments
Rain line was at Hellgate on my way up the canyon. 10,000' ceiling @8am. X sky and snow showers gradually transitioned to BKN by the time we exited at about 2. HN: T-2" @2pm. Moderate blustery winds along the ridgelines. Warm temps when the sun popped out, minimal greenhousing.
Snow Characteristics
Snow Characteristics Comments
Storm snow has consolidated to ~30cms of damp schmoo. In high, steep, north facing terrain you could still find "cold" snow. Anything in the sun, including low angle north facing, held a wide variety of crusts, few supportable. Considerable snow machine damage near TLP. Sub-optimal surface conditions. With the cold temps, most of last weeks snow has stayed in place. I expect that to change with tomorrow's forecasted warm-up.
