Snow Characteristics Comments

I found anywhere from 3-5" of settled snow (snow from Sunday/Monday's storm) on top of a small 1cm wind crust on north and west facing slopes. All solar aspects were picking up heat and became very damp by mid day. Melt freeze crust on east later in the afternoon. Great riding conditions on the northerly aspects.

A quick pit at 9300ft, 29 degrees, N facing produced no results with compression or extended column tests. Total snow pack depth was 135cm with the first 35cm from the ground being large grain moist facets. Mid pack was 2F to 1F and strong.

Surface hoar on sheltered north.

Although my gathered information indicates Low Danger, I still hesitate to get on anything steep and north facing. Especially not knowing the history of the slope (i.e. has it avalanched this season or not).
