Comments
We rode North Facing slopes between 9200 and 8000 feet in the White Pine Canyon Area today. In the morning the snow was dry and made for some great turns. Around 11:30 high clouds trapped the long wave radiation and even the most north facing terrain got soggy from the greenhousing effect. We had significant roller balls on Steep terrain. We had some significant sluffing on 50 degree slopes that ran 500ish feet. Although we were able to manage the sluff, it would have been very easy to get taken out by the fast moving slides. Later in the day we rode some mellower east facing terrain and found fun slushy turning conditions. I am afraid everything will be crusted over in the next couple of days with the colder temps.
