I went up Pleasant Creek to look at the underlying weak snow that produced all of the avalanche activity a couple weeks ago. Pleasant Creek has as deep and strong snowpack as anywhere along the Skyline but the weak snow still exists deep in the pack. In many places, the "bridge" of newer snow over the old weak facets is enough to keep a rider from effecting it but you just never know where you'll find the spot that breaks the bridge.
I also went up Pleasant Creek to get a closer look at the avalanches from the big storm two weeks ago. Very impressive slides. Almost every path that can cross the road did.

1 Numerous piles of debris cover the road up Pleasant Creek.
2 Large slides even on southerly facing slopes low in the drainages released during the big storm.
