No Name Bowl was definitely faceted deeper in the pack than S Monitor. In some spots your pole would punch all the way down to the dirt, but there was enough of a slab to keep you from sinking to deep, quality skiing. The main slope also had a topping of surface hoar growing on it. Minor sluffing in the surface hoar. Pics, minor slufffing, surface hoar growth on the main face of No Name.
South Monitor had not been skied since I skied it a week ago Friday, my guess was that the wind crusts and wind slabs formed last storm cycle had broken down in the week of high pressure. Lucky quess or not, that was the case. The main face of South Monitor consisted of 8 to 10 inches of dense, creamy and consistent snow, with the lack of any sluffing because of the denseness of the snow. The pic is to illustrate the consistency and ski penetration of the snow in South Monitor, sometime you have to go out on the slope to tell the quality of the snow.
Found some really cool feathers growing in the bottom of South Monitor, some were 2 to 4 inches long.
