Snow Characteristics Comments
Skied W, S, and NE aspects from 7500-9300 feet. The snow was still somewhat shallow below about 8000 ft, especially on southerly aspects (80-100cm). Southerly aspects skied alright in the morning but were slightly sun-crusted by the afternoon. In most places above 800 ft, the new snow depth was just under 2' (20" or so) but on NE slopes we found closer to 3' of low to medium density snow. The new snow was deep enough to prohibit skiing on low angle slopes. Pit observations on a NE slope around 8500' revealed a fairly stable snow pack though we did have one moderate sheer failure (Q1) at the old/new snow interface maybe due to a significant density change or an indiscernible buried surface layer. Otherwise no signs of instability. Blower skiing conditions!

Red Flags Comments
We observed evidence of several small (R2-D1 or 2) soft-slab and point-release avalanches on NE, E, and S aspects that must have run towards the end of and after the storm. All were above 8000' and occurred on slopes steeper than 40-45 degrees around rock outcroppings, and cliffs.
