Weather and Snow
George Harrison's third studio album "All Things Must Pass" accurately describes the shelf-life of our amazing run with a brilliantly extended Autumn. But ya know, it's early October, and things change fast around here. In fact, after a streak of record setting high temperatures a shift in the weather pattern brought the hammer down last weekend, ushering in the first significant October storm, delivering about 6" of snow, especially to the North Slope. Meanwhile, most terrain on the south half of the range from Mirror Lake through Wolf Creek and Currant Creek remains largely brown and void of snow.
Forecast: The workweek wraps up with another blast of moisture as the remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla streams into the state. It's a warm system and I suspect most lower and mid elevations see rain, while a primer layer of white paint coats the highest peaks. Whilst short-lived, Saturday's cold front offers our best shot of accumulating storm snow.
Futurecast: A break for Sunday/Monday with more storminess on tap for midweek.
