The AIARE 1 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management. Our classes will meet in person at our Park City Headquarters before heading out into the field each of the 3 days. 12/5-12/7/2025 from 8:30am-4:30pm.

Inspired Summit has been a leader in sled access touring here in Utah and we are excited to have our team of AIARE certified instructors and seasoned and certified guides share their technical and practical skills.

Our course will cover both the Wasatch and Uinta Ranges and cover topics such as increasing certainty, building margins, as well as how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, basic decision making while in the field, and specific rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person in the case of an avalanche incident.

Our participants get the best of all worlds as we talk about better known areas to explore in the Wasatch while also spending time in a remote region which allows our students to get the most from their course.

Education. Saves. Lives

This 3 day in-person course is designed for the backcountry traveller who wants to get the most out of their avalanche education. Starting with our small class numbers and our hands on teaching style, our AIARE program is more than another class, it is an educational experience.

Our team of certified AIARE educators will not only hand you the keys to the backcountry, but they will be there to coach and mentor you well beyond your course. Inspired Summit's level of personalized attention, deep knowledge and passion leads each course to have extraordinary and lasting effects for our students.

Who Should Take this Course

The AIARE 1 is for ANYONE, who wants to recreate in or near avalanche terrain. Participants may have attended some awareness classes or workshops or completed the Avalanche Rescue course, but none are a prerequisite for this course.

Aspiring professionals will need to take the AIARE 1 and Avalanche Rescue as a prerequisite for the Pro 1 course.
