The American Avalanche Institute's Avalanche Level 1 course offers a comprehensive introduction to avalanche awareness and safe backcountry travel and is recognized by the American Avalanche Association. Course Format:

• Online Learning: Begin with approximately 7 hours of self-paced online modules covering foundational avalanche knowledge, snowpack dynamics, and terrain assessment.

• Live Session: Engage in a 1-hour Zoom session with the Course Leader in preparation for the field sessions.

• Field Training: Apply your knowledge during two full days in the field, on snow, practicing snowpack evaluation, terrain and weather assessment, and companion rescue techniques in real-world conditions.
