Problem #1 Comments
We found 45 cm of facets at the ground on a N facing slope along with other weak layers in the snowpack. Our pit failed at the interface of a facet layer at 75cm. After digging the pit, we heard a massive and very loud collapse around us. When were leaving the area we dug the pit, we heard a few more whumphing and saw a propagating crack as we skinned over a small convexity. On our tour prior to digging the pit and after we left the area we dug the pit in we did not observe any additional signs of instability.

Comments
On our tour today we observed very thin cover on south facing slopes, grass poking through. We skinned up a NE facing ridge off of North Creek. We found a dry, non-cohesive layer of "fresh" snow on the more northerly aspects of the ridge and dense, moist and sticky snow on the east and southeast aspects of the ridge. Near tree line, the ridge was wind loaded and we found many wind drifts and what was likely a dense wind slab in places. In one particular area (where we dug our pit) we heard whumphing and saw cracking but otherwise did not observe any additional signs of instability.
At the top, we skinned across the ridgeline down to a saddle where we intended to drop in on an East facing slope. We probed in this area and got a snow depth of about 90cm. We found surprisingly nice, creamy snow on the east face and had a fun ride down.
