I snowshoed Butler Fork to Circle Awl Peak Friday afternoon. The snow was incredible especially the last half mile to the summit. Deep and fabulous powder.
There were a number of backcountry skiers or groups that hit this route. I talked with several who noted the sking was incredible.
The snow was a bit heavy further down as he headed back to the TH around 4 PM. Even some areas of light crust which was a bit surprising considering the limited sun, the clouds and intermittent light snow.
There was a one to two feet of deep powder up top. The weather was light snow and the winds were light.
I couldn't see Raymond, Gobblers, Reynolds, or Kessler due to low ceiling. I'm guessing some snow will move over the weekend due to warming temps. The considerable avy rating should keep us low angle too. Stay safe!
