The morning's blue sky was soon obscured by cloud cover at elevation. New snow was intermittent with some periods of heavy snowfall and fat flakes. Our skin track was covered with a few fluffy new inches on our second lap. No discernable wind at and below treeline.

Snow Characteristics Comments
Good to see snow return with some blower powder! New snow was light in density. Minimal wind transport observed at and below treeline. New snow fell on a supportive slab which was at times slippery under ski. Rocks and stumps are still present, as we found. Stay cautious.

Heavy Snowfall
Collapsing
Red Flags Comments
We observed collapsing and whumphing at similar aspects and elevations as were found prior to the new snow: protected north and north-west aspects below treeline, especially where the terrain is rocky and the snowpack thin.
Comments
It was fun to be back in a snowglobe here in La Sals! Snow fell hard and fat for several hours from appx 11am-1pm. The new snow rests on a supportive base which is quite thin on south and east aspects. Some wind affect exists above treeline. Sheltered mid-elevation snow was pretty excellent and should be a fun weekend for skiing.
