Problem
New Snow
Problem #1 Comments
About 12 inches of dense snow at 9000.
From about 7700 to 9000, hand pits indicated that the snow was incohesive to slightly cohesive with rough Q3 shear. Given these results, we dropped onto south facing slopes less likely to have wind slabs. Soft sluffs ran within the first 4-6 inches of the snow on slopes above 35 degrees but did not run very far
Danger rating reflects the likelihood of windslabs on higher and leeward slopes, though we did not obseve any obvious signs of windslabs.
Comments
Travel conditions were exceptionally slow. Something in the snow (likely density changes) made it really easy for tips to go under when skinning and then it was tricky to bring them back up.
