Warm spring like day to start off March. We set out from the XC trailhead to Cutler Ridge trail at 9:30 AM. Was hot and moderately wet but still supportable snow until about 7800 ft. Past that was firm with good travel condition. Final E facing ridge at around 9000 ft was still too hard for skinning safely around 12:30 PM and we switched to booting until we reached the summit ridgeline. Dug a quick pit to feel the layers from surface to 3 ft down. The was some small 4F weakness between 1F hard layers about a foot down but it felt pretty stable overall. With no obvious red flags we skied the headwall off the top. Conditions were variable on the descent with some soft and some hardpack snow.
