We saw this avalanche from the top of Gold Hill and investigated it from below.
We dug a snowpit on a NE slope with shallow snow (120cm). Based on this snow, we assume the weak layer of this is facets. This seems to have been triggered by a natural cornice fall.
Of note for this slide was that how it travelled downslope then propagated across the slope both directly (see photos 1).
A significant number of sled tracks were taken out by this slide.
