There are three distinct layers in the snowpack. However, there was no propagation in the extended column test. I rode as if I was nervous about the steep terrain. I only made it to 9,000', and my snowpit was 8,000' on a due north aspect. In this exact location, I was okay with the snowpack structure. However, three avalanches were triggered just over the ridge just four days ago (Mt Aire / Hardscrabble / Hardscrabble). I need more time between avalanches to fully trust the snowpack. I do think the slope would need to be heavily wind-loaded and ripe for an avalanche to happen. Otherwise, the odds of triggering an avalanche have decreased... NOT zero! But, unlikely.
