Persistent Weak Layer
Problem #1 Comments
10000 elevation, NE aspect, large granular snow balls 3 inch layer at approximately 4 feet deep. Did not show any signs of instability on 1-30 ECT but did sheer with a shovel behind the top of the column when applying decent force. This was an interesting finding to our crew and sparked a debate given the size of the weak layer even though there were no signs of instability throughout our CT and ECT.
