At the ridgeline above the Nordic Valley Express, around 1100, moderate winds from the SSE, overcast skies, no precipitation. in scouring zones, HS about 10cm. ski penetration < 5cm, boot penetration at about 10cm. at the deposition zone, within a step HS from 110cm to 180cm. Group proceeded down a north facing aspect to dig a snowpit for learning and confirmation of PWL, around 7260ft, and the marked latitude longitude, pit was dug, and a considerable collapse was experienced. this was confirmed by a separate observer about 100 meters away. Group decided to discard pit observations in order to proceed to safe, inbounds terrain. No pit obs at this time.
