Faceting below the crust layer failing with ~80cm of consolidated slab above. Facets healing but with about 5cm above and 5cm below ice crust layer, still dangerous.

at 1030 41.291137, -111.876604, light SSE wind, overcast skies, no precipitation, and a 205cm height of snow. 25cm boot penetration, and 5 to 10cm ski penetration. visible snow transport. At the ridgeline above the Nordic Valley Express, around 1100, moderate winds from the SSE, overcast skies, no precipitation. in scouring zones, HS about 10cm. ski penetration < 5cm, boot penetration at about 10cm. at the deposition zone, within a step HS from 110cm to 180cm. Group proceeded down a north facing aspect to dig a snowpit for learning and confirmation of PWL, around 7260ft, and the marked latitude longitude, pit was dug, and a considerable collapse was experienced. this was confirmed by a separate observer about 100 meters away. Group decided to discard pit observations in order to proceed to safe, inbounds terrain. No pit obs at this time.
