Our party experienced lots of cracking and collapsing while skinning up the north facing trees in the North Woods. The slab on top of our weak snow is getting thicker with yesterday's snow totals looking closer to 4 inches in the trees. I was surprised by how sensitive certain areas were since last week's major snowfall. At least the snow is soft!
