Comments
Made a couple observations on my walk today.
Snowpack depth varies widely even in such short distances. North facing at around 9100' only had 2' of snow, 9400' the snow was deep enough to gobble up a ski pole, at 9800' there was bare ground showing where some liquid water could still flow and only a couple meters away on the NE aspect I got a reading of 145cm (4.75'). This is all to say, since depth is the key healing snowpack, lower elevation zones might be more suspect in the coming days but even up high there are plenty of thin spots waiting for an excuse to be a problem. Other observations include a max 90cm deep isothermal (and very sloppy) west aspect at the ridge and very stout windboard along the ridge up to 10k'. Dry loose snow persists on tree filled north aspects.
