Snow Characteristics Comments
There is a bit of orographic snow for Providence Canyon—about 10-12", maybe more in places. Very low-density snow sitting atop weak, faceted old surface snow. North of Providence Canyon towards Logan Peak and near Tony Grove, there were reports of 4-6" of snow.
Red Flags
Red Flags Comments
We only observed very shallow dry loose sluffs within the top few inches of new snow, which likely occurred overnight during high PI. Today's setup was basically weaker snow sitting atop weak snow. In this zone, there is not a connected slab, and the starting zones are mainly shallow, faceted snow from top to bottom.
Comments
Pit profile at 8751' N-facing.
Easy trail breaking in fluff.
COLD day in the mountains. (not a lot of picture taking bc of the cold)
