      Comments
Today I conducted an ECT at 9700 on an E-NE facing 28° slope along the PC ridgeline. Snowpack depth was approximately 155 cm. The complete 30-tap test yielded no propagation although I continued and did get a failure at 37 taps. I was also able to pop the top 50cm of the snowpack in a shear test with the column failing unevenly near the interface between the late December slab and softer snow beneath. I also dropped a human-sized cornice block onto the same slope with no effect. I noted no other signs of instability. The early season sugar snow remains visible at the ground though it appears to be crushing down considerably. Despite comforting results indicating the snowpack is clearly healing, I just wasn't feeling a "hell yes!" and elected to ski lower angle, south facing terrain instead where turns were creamy and safe.

Cornice drop, no effect.
