Weather Comments
Wind seemed to have come from multiple directions overnight producing some odd wind drifting from both east and west even low in the trees. Occasional heavy snow squalls typical of post frontal environment. Felt much colder and less maritime today, like it should.

Rain crust more notable up to about 8000'. Snow was much more right side up than two days ago.

Poor Snowpack Structure
Red Flags Comments
Cracking was much less obvious than two days ago, however basic snow structure is unchanged. Above 8500' facets at new snow interface and at late November snow interface are still problematic. The latter probably explains some of the deeper avalanches reported over the last couple days.

Persistent Weak Layer

Same
Problem #1 Comments
Two thin gray lines were immediately obvious when digging the quick pit below (new snow/old snow interface and below the snow we recieved in late November). This pit was in a very sheltered area, so surface snow was not slab like. In a wind drifted area, this would have been a different story. Odd loading patterns noted above could also mask some of these drifts. The rain/rime crust did not seem to be noticable enough at higher elevations to cap any of these weak layers.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Trend
Decreasing Danger
Problem #2 Comments
As noted above, wind seemed to be out of a couple different directions (including east) producing odd loading patterns. This plus facets is problematic.

Comments
New snow was very sensitive but didn't propgate only because pit was out of the wind.
