Snow Characteristics Comments
Nice coating of medium-density new snow on top of a few rain crusts. This area is still relatively shallow and travel off trail is not possible in many places due to downed trees, stumps, etc.
Travel was easy on packed trail and droppy off trail.

Poor Snowpack Structure
Red Flags Comments
This area has poor snowpack structure with 30 cm of old weak faceted snow under 1-2 feet of slab/crusts. Got CT12,13, and ECTP22 at old snow interface with a nice clean shear.

Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Trend
Increasing Danger
Problem #1 Comments
Low elevations do not have enough snow yet to worry about the PWL
That could easily change if we get the bigger end of forecast water numbers.

Comments
We finally have enough snow to walk around on at lower elevations but not enough to ski off trail.
