Patsy Marley NW Ridgeline
Comments
Dug in a lightly wind affected area just below the ridge on a NNW aspect at 9800’. Winds were consistently light during the day out of the SW>W>NW and there was 30cm of new snow at the upper part of the ridgeline; HS of 310 cm.
Shovel tilt easy, broke on the new snow/old snow interface at 6-7” on a density change in the snow. New snow (20cm>) was very light; could pass fist through layer without resistance. Old snow (30cm<) had 4 finger/fist hardness. Indicative of possible old WS on isolated ridges.
