Comments
We found stable avalanche conditions in Southeast Idaho today. We performed several avalanche pit tests on a 32 degree north facing slope at around 8800 feet in elevation. The total snow depth was 50 inches of settled snow with a layer of faceted snow near the ground. We had a couple of compression test failures one at 16, about 16 inches from the surface, and one at 23 at the ground level. I could not get an failures with the Extended Column Test.
