Today I did some quick evaluation of the snowpack structure with hand hardness and some grain ID near the surface. About 20 cm's down I found a mix of facets and graupel that lacked in cohesion ,I predict this will be problematic after our next big storm. On almost all terrain over 35 degrees this top 20 cm's ran in small dry loose avalanches, nothing sizable but certainly enough to knock you off your feet if you weren't paying attention in steep terrain. There is isolated pockets of wind drifted snow sitting on top of this weak surface but I did not find any reactivity throughout my day. The hand hardnesses are attached in a photo for your viewing pleasure. Skiing quality was pretty good, hit a few rocks in shallow spots.
