Cracking and collapsing that sounded like thunder every step or other step from bottom of Hells Kitchen up to ~ 8,000 feet. Cracks spreading 10 to 20 feet from skis. Collapses 50 to 75 feet from ski. 2 feet of slab on top of old snow. 3 to 4 feet total snow depth. Trail breaking arduous. Lots of wallowing. Heavy snow all day. Wind too. Wetter snow on ski out. Rain started 1/2 mile down from turnoff for Tony grove road.
