Comments
This is further along the ridge than Lane's Leap proper. The crystals nearest the ground are a mix of advanced facets with some striated cups. There are also clumps of refrozen ice. There is a consistent layer of unstable, sugary snow just below the thick crust around 18 cm from the ground that was giving me action in the snowpit. There was some faceting occurring just above the highest crust. I continued up to 10420 before descending the north ridge. I hit a few rocks on the way down. The sunny sections of the road are losing snow.
above: faceted snow crystals on a 2mm grid. below: surface hoar
Whatever in the snowpack exists without my knowledge exists without my consent.
