This happened on our second lap at Steam Mill 3. I started skiers right of the direct entrance for the line we were looking at and took two hard turns while still on the side of the slide path. On my second turn, the snow broke approximately 12 inches down, propagated approximately 25 feet skiers left across the slope, and ran about 150 feet downhill. I was on the skiers right edge of the start zone and didn't get caught or carried. I skied through the avalanche debris and it was soft, and consisted of very small chunks. If I was in the middle of the slope, I most likely would have been knocked off of my feet. In my opinion, this was a D1 avalanche.
We got no propagation of this layer in our ECT before skiing. A great reminder to me that those results do not mean it can't / won't propagate on slope.
Sorry for the sub-par photos.
