We rode in the Northern Bear River Range today and found excellent riding conditions on the Northern half of the compass below 9000. The snow on the southern half of the compass was getting saturated by the time we left at around 2PM.

Generally we did not notice any avalanche activity other than a few small soft slabs on steep east facing slopes (see pictures 1 and 2). We had 5-6 soft soft slab avalanches initiate on approximately 40 degree slopes. The slides were 25 feet wide at the widest entrained the snow from Wednesday, they were only 6-10 inches deep, and they ran approximately 200 vertical feet. There had been relatively little wind in the area and they slabs were very soft and did not feel like wind slabs. They were not fast moving and could easily be avoided. Other than this, we did not notice any other signs of avalanches.

As a side note, we rode the east foothills on Thursday, and found great riding conditions on north facing aspects. The wind had scoured the ridgelines but away from the ridges there were good turns to be had (see pic 3). We thought the warm weather earlier in the week would have destroyed the good snow but it was holding pretty good. We did not notice any signs of avalanches down low but we were on very mellow slopes.
