Comments
We were ascending from Timpanooke towards the forested north ridge of Robert's Horn at approx 8,100 ft when we heard an incredibly loud avalanche directly across the drainage. It was snowing pretty hard so we couldn't see much detail. It appears the hanging slope above the cliffs you see from the trailhead ripped and took out the entire E/NE Face below it. We heard trees snapping and watched an impressive powder cloud linger in the air for several minutes. The summer trail got dusted.
The photos we grabbed were not informative due to low visibility. We're returning to that zone tomorrow to have a closer look.
