Comments
When the sun decided to peak out today, I saw evidence of many large natural avalanches across the Wellsville range. All of the avalanches I observed were on North to East facing slopes, with crowns located between 7000 and 9000 feet elevation. Some of the avalanches ran to the benches 2000+ vertical below. The width of the slabs appeared to be between 100 and 500 feet wide. Depth is unknown.
The pictures below show a few of the slabs that I could get pictures from my house, 11 miles away. These pictures are focused in the central part of the Wellsville Range, but there were other slabs across the range.
