Persistent Weak Layer
Problem #1 Comments
Old snow that fell in late Oct. and early Nov. created a faceted weak layer in our snowpack. On the accent, we found that we were able to trigger small slabs that would move on this faceted layer. Also to mention was the audible whooping and visual craking. We dug today on a north-facing aspect @7600ft. ECTP12 was our result again falling on the facets. Unexpectedly as the block fell it split right between Monday night's storm and Thursday night's storm layer. We then isolated just the upper layers and found it did the same.
