Comments
Weak faceted snow and occasional surface hoar exists on most polar aspects and elevations. Excellent skiing and riding for now.
The greatest uncertainty of structure involves the other aspects. South and southwest aspects are crusted but other "off" aspects such as east, southeast, and west have weak snow sometimes associated with crusts.
As you'll see in the video, it won't take much loading to activate the now-preserved snow surface weaknesses (facets and surface hoar) and avalanches will be certain in steep terrain. (photos Bo Torrey)
