The surface snow is pretty variable in the zone, but this deteriorating rain-crust from 1-6 is widespread at lower and mid elevations on all aspects…The very weak layer of dry faceted snow under it will certainly be a concern with a February type load.
Video
It was neat looking at the runnels that formed during the 1-6-2022 rain storm. A cross section was like a pillar dropping down into the snowpack from the thick crust. Under the crust and around the runnels there is a thick layer of very weak faceted snow.
