Comments
From the TH to about 7000' was a few inches of wet snow sitting on top of dry snow- tough skiing (up and down). 7000-8000' seemed to be a transition area with snow drying out with increased elevation and pretty good skiing conditions. Winds variable throughout day, mostly Moderate with gusts of strong out of the Southeast.
Profile (pictured) at 8000', north aspect showed a fairly nice right side up snowpack with fist hard new snow on top of 1 finger mid snowpack, and 4F+ at bottom- slope had lots of vegetation on ground, so bush at bottom of pit was fist, but tough to tell how that is affecting stability.
Some very small loose wet slides were noted from steep rocky road cuts at low elevations, but no major natural avalanches noted. Had one small spot settle on us right around the corner from where the picture was taken near a tree, but no other instabilities were noted on the low-angle terrain we skied.
