Poor snow structure apparent only on high north facing slopes in this area. Recent natural avalanches that were observed on 12-28 still visible, but blown in...
Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Problem #1 Comments
Still probably a HIGH danger on upper elevation north facing slopes, but I stayed well clear of the steep slopes at the top of Providence Canyon

Comments
Tons of new snow and drifting are creating dangerous conditions up high on north facing slopes with a buried persistent weak layer near the ground. I found good stability however, in areas that were bare of snow before snow started to accumulate in December.
