With this grim coverage it takes getting above 9000' on NW through E faces to find any snow of interest. In lower BCC south drainages these areas have a layer cake of deteriorating crusts and multiple weak layers while solar aspects have very little patchy, crusted snow.
In this location ~9800' HS is generally between 50cm and 90cm. This photo had HS 80 with the crusts (breaking down) and weak snow adjacent to them. Pits showed zero stability/test concerns (one stubborn SST Q3 35cm down and lower red arrow) but there is at least one layer to pay attention to as we get closer to the next storm. This layer (upper arrow/star) that may stick around in starting zones is 1+ mm facets just under the surface crust. With higher elevations' temp. gradient I think it will persist on NW-E.
Overall the conditions are in the "cautious novelty" category with shark fins flying by just under the surface. 1.5-star riding at best.
