Weather Comments
Calm off the ridgelines but strong east winds evident on higher ridges. Snow was heavy to moderate at times but varied a bit. Low visibility made even familiar places more difficult to recognize. It was also pretty damp.

Snow Characteristics Comments
East winds created odd loading patterns. There were drifts behind aspens and in places that are normally protected which was interesting to see. There was not enough snow and these didn't seem all that dense or connected enough to be problematic. Skiing conditions were pretty good considering the warm temperatures at the beginning of the week. Melt freeze crust was present but there was enough snow to cover it say down to 8500 on north aspects.

Red Flags Comments
Facets still present but capped by ~120cms of snow in this location. Seems like they are not very reactive and plenty of slopes have been skied without problem.

Comments
Didn't do a formal pit but just wanted to get a quick look at the snow. I dug here about a year ago to the day and snow depths were about 60 cms greater last year. Last year the snow was also stronger - 1F snow started at a height of 190cm and continued quite a way through the snowpack vs this year 1F snow starts at a height of 100 cm.
