Comments
I dug a pit at 7900 ft W NW aspect, snow was 115cm deep and I got ECTP26 on my second colum test, first test was a dud. Failing on the weak sugar layer near the ground, but throughout the day I found sugar snow all the way to the surface where the snow was thinner near rocks and trees. There was a secondary weak layer that sheared when I tipped both the blocks, it was about 45cm off the ground and wasn't on a crust, just was about two fingers tall of really weak snow. Maybe buried surface hoar.
With pinwheel snow here by 11 AM every day, I'm still staying off big open stuff. I would hate to trigger something on that layer at the ground..
