Measured snow depth of 305cm (10 ft) at 8123 elevation at 345 degrees NNW. (photo) Do we have 1.5 meters of snow on top of the persitent weak layer? In some places, yes, however, as Nikki pointed out on this morning's forecast, we can inadvertantly access the connected slab in a shallow portion of the snow pack or in rocky terrain. With no obvious signs of instability it's temping to step out into steeper terrain. Patience is key to managing the PWL avalanche problem.
