This morning we observed surface hoar measuring as large as 10mm, on top of 4cm of light density snow, with a total snow depth of 72 cm. Easterly to North Easterly low angel slopes skied well, with a ski penetration as much as 40cm. Generally the snow pack is shallow and riddled with obstacles.

The persistent weak layer was identified and deemed reactive with standardized tests producing result of CTE6 SC, and ECTP14 SC. Primarily this hard over soft layer was failing on 3mm facets around 38cm down in the snow pack.

Generally riding conditions were great on low angle non avalanche terrain. The cold temps have preserved the snow in sheltered areas. Controlled turns in a shallow snow pack with numerous obstacles keeps things interesting while satisfying our need for making turns safely.
