Comments
Went for a late afternoon tour starting at 1245 under thin, high altitude cloud cover. Toured up to George's Bowl and didn't see any activity with the inch or so we got last night. No evidence of wind drifts either. Dug a pit on a NE facing, 35 degree, 9250' slope and got an ECT-13; failure on the facet/old snow interface with no propagation. It doesn't seem that there's a lot of energy in the snowpack now which is preventing propagation and is why we have been seeing a lot of collapsing/cracking but not a lot of avalanches. Going with moderate for today since natural avalanches are unlikely and human-triggered avalanches are possible.
Lots of tracks in just a couple of spots throughout the Cottonwoods. Lets keep up safe travel practices of not skiing on top of others and going one at a time when there's so many of us close together.
