This season you’ll get a chance to test your forecast understanding and help us gauge the effectiveness of the avalanche information we’ve provided. Every week or so, we’ll create a quick quiz for you to take to measure your interpretation of the forecast. By taking this quiz, you can do two important things, improve your ability to get the essential information from an avalanche forecast and help us improve our forecasts.
Every week or two, we will include a link to a quiz on a forecast for one region for that day. The quiz will take a few minutes and the link will be live for 24 hours. We’d like to you fill out the quiz after you read the forecast. When you finish the quiz (9 questions plus some optional questions to tell us more about yourself), you'll get feedback from a UAC staff member on your results.
Providing your name and email address is optional. With your help, we at the UAC will be able to make our forecasts even more clear and relevant. It’ll also provide us a mechanism for testing new forecast ideas. Win-win! There’s a bonus - we’ll toss the name of everyone who gives us his or her email address into a hat and do drawings for gear at the end of the season. Each quiz you take gives you another entry (just 1 quiz per day, though).
Look for quizzes to be announced somewhat randomly in the daily forecasts this winter.
Thanks! We look forward to working with you this winter!
