Comments
A nice warm day today with clear skies in the morning, transitioning to overcast in the afternoon with moderate to strong winds at higher elevations. The winds were able to find some snow to transport, but not enough to create any new hazard. Another day of warm temperatures settled much of the snowpack. At lower elevations on all aspects, roller-balls are easily forming, and small wet slides could easily push someone into hazardous terrain. At higher elevations, the skiing has deteriorated, but some nice turns might be found on northerly aspects. A 45 cm deep snowpit at 9800' on a NW aspect revealed a right side up snowpack. Near the snowpit there were areas with unreactive wind crust up to a couple of inches thick at the surface. Overall I can't complain about this November snowpack.
