Comments
Two natural wet slides in the Bear Canyon drainage west of Double Top. Both natural cornice falls that triggered slides. The first slide (see pin) started at 9500 ft at the saddle on the west rib of double top. The start zone was three separate unconnected cornices separated by cliffs that wrapped west towards the unnumbered point. Slide ran ~900 vertical feet. Multiple flow paths that stayed separate and flowed together. Debris pile mostly 2-3' deep, but there were 5' boulders too (Photos #1-3).
The second slide started a bit further west along the same ridge and went down the NW aspect. ~1300 foot vertical. Debris pile at 8500 ft (photo #4) and 8200 feet.
Unknown date of occurence but at least a day old since the debris has already started to form corn snow that I poked my pole into 1" or so.
