The calendar says April, but the temperatures feel more winter like with single digits to start the day and things did not warm that much today. A few clouds around, winds still brisk and cool from the west and a nice spring day.

Nice shallow soft riding and turning today, cooler temperatures have kept the snow conditions from getting too wet and spring like.

Winds were brisk and finding some snow to blow around and might be a shallow wind drift or two out there, but conditions felt generally low hazard and things are settling out.

Problem #1 Comments
Observed a couple small recent shallow wind slabs in very windy areas, these are pretty manageable from a sledders view point. With warming temperatures and lower wind speeds this issue is very isolated to those very windy and terrain influenced places.
Comments
Spotted this recent shallow wind slab on a steep slope in a windy area in Whitney Basin. The cooler temperatures have preserved the recent new snow and the winds have been blowing in the light to moderate category and forming a few shallow wind slabs.
The April sun is high in the sky and the recent snow is getting its first hit of direct warm sun and sluffs easily once disturbed.
