Comments
Ski cuts produced a point release avalanche that entrained the new snow and moved slowly like a wet slide. The new snow is bonded well until warming is enough to activate weaknesses in the snow. Snow was more stable in the cooler temps of the day. new snow also seems to be somewhat poorly bonded with light pow underneath and sluffs in steep terrain over about 35 degrees in steepness. The late day sun created sluffs on the west face of cherry peak. The trail has melted considerably and access is becoming tricky so watch out for streams and near surface encounters if trying the lower elevations.
