Location Name or Route
Upper Maybird
Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
New Snow
Trend
Decreasing Danger
Problem #1 Comments
New snow on the west facing slopes seemed to be sticking to the slope and did not cause any sluffing. On East facing slopes, was an entirely different situation, caution was required on steeper slopes, especially in narrow chokes. East facing slopes still had a stout crust underneath things.
Comments
In upper Maybird, the graupel seemed to be pooling up deep underneath the East facing cliffs(see video below). This may present an unfortunate surprise if one was on steeper terrain or had come over from Red Pine. This late in the season, i don't see it sticking around too long. Just something to keep in mind in the steeper, east facing terrain for the next couple of days.
